Lavender is one accord that’s fresh, clean and very summery with almost soothing, calming like aromatic qualities. Such EDPs are good for summer because of this nature of this note, but it is tough to compose it in a way that lets it blend in without losing it completely or giving the entire composition this ‘old-fashioned’ feel. So, based on that’s how many really good lavender scents are out there? We did a quick check and this is what we found.
Best Lavender Perfumes
Annick Goutal Ninfeo Mio
Ninfeo Mio from Annick Goutal was inspired by the Ninfeo gardens in Rome that is light and luminous. The top notes are Italian lemons, galbanum and cedrate that represent fresh, clean air of dawn. The central notes are calming, aromatic notes of lavender nested on this warmth created by fig leaf accords. The base notes are only woody and nothing else.
- rare blend
- simple composition
- moderate to long lasting longevity
- moderate sillage
- just in the 100 ml bottle
- hard to find
- leans towards masculine
Fig is something that isn’t easy to get used to but if you need to get started on it, begin with Annick Goutal’s Ninfeo Mio as you won’t get anything more ‘true to life’ than this. There are plenty of fig accords but they’ve been balanced out with the lushness of a garden. It starts out on a bitter citrus but moves to this green accord quickly. It is unisex but leans towards masculine and might be more for a mature audience.
Very outdoorsy, gardeny and summery, but the green notes can be easily misinterpreted so try this out before buying. There is just the right balance of wood, green and citrus while the fig prevents it from getting all too citrusy.
Woods of Windsor Lavender
Woods of Windsor launched this in 1974 as a pure, light scent and blends floral, aromatic and herbal accords for a decadent and rich composition. The fragrance also has notes of green herbal rosemary and amber vanilla for a hint of sweetness, femininity elegance and refinement.
Just right for refreshing mornings and its timeless quality also lends a classic touch to special evenings.
- powdery skin scent
- simple lavender scent
- safe and versatile
- poor to moderate longevity
- soft to moderate sillage
The lavender notes are invigorating and camphorous that moves these accords to the awake and bright side. It goes on as a super strong blast of lavender that is lovely and eventually dries down to a soapy, powdery skin scent that feels a lot like amber.
This is a good choice for a simple lavender scent, is affordable, safe and versatile. We detected the rosemary first mixed in with lavender that is very true to the actual lavender and shouldn’t be associated with the on you get in soaps. The only way to improve the longevity and sillage is to reapply.
Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker was inspired by memories of her mother’s perfumes and wanted Lovely to sexy, classy. The aromatic concoction involves three different kinds of scents to make it instantly recognizable.
The top notes are discreet, soft and powdery that can be seen as intimate, almost like a white, ambery and silky fragrance for a classic and elegant characteristic that it charming, modern and lovely. It opens on a soft citrus, woody and rosewood notes with a drop of lavender. It develops further into this orchid, apple martini and narcissus heart. The base unites cedar, white amber, woody notes and white musk.
suitable for all ages, safe, long lasting
reformulated to a sharper finish
Lovely has changed recently and is sharper than before. If you don’t like the new formula, then try Modern muse, Narciso for Her and Idylle. Lovely might be the scent you’ve been searching for – something that you can always wear and stand out but not I an odd way.
It’s pretty unique for a celeb scent and really lasts. Lovely is spicy, soft, musky and apple-floral and is dead-ringer for Estee Lauder’s Pleasures. While Pleasures is mature and sophisticated, Lovely takes on a more sophomore like avatar and exudes white flowers and is very complex. Lovely can be aplce along what lines of Mon Guerlain and Guerlain’s Shalimar because that’s the kind of classy outlook it has. Yet is stays on the younger side with the soft citrus, apple martini and narcissus heart that is modern and very ‘New York-ish’ where SJP resides.
Instinct by David Beckham
David Beckham’s Instinct is the elegance, sensual choice for the modern, confident man introduced in 2005. It has afresh and strong character filled with citruses, grapefruit, black pepper and cardamom in the top notes.
The heart is purely aromatic with accords such as sage, rosemary and lavenderand the base is allmasculine with cedar, oak mosshot and soft of tobacco leaves.
- moderate sillage and longevity
- lacks performance
The scent doesn’t t have the best performance but is one of the best citrus offerings for men, with the touch of vetiver making it mild enough for work. Just like Best by Chevignon, Instinct is aquatic, cozy, light, sparkly and green citrus, but soapy and masculine.
Some users have mentioned how it didn’t last on them, where it’s soft, dry and musky and it closer to Green Irish Tweed owing to the due tone that it takes one. This is the sporty, clean and soapy on one side and classy on the other.
Guerlain Mon Guerlain Florale
The Mon Guerlain Florale is the airy and floral of the original, and is differentiated with notes of peony and Sambac jasmine.Mon Guerlain Florale is in a rose gold quadrilobe bottle that builds on the design of the frits Mon Guerlain bottle.
The opening of Mon Guerlain Florale is similar to the original as well, with the exception of the Carla lavender freshness. The heart retains that exquisite Sambac jasmine, but is stronger then and has peony and this paradisone molecule rested on a base of woody and vanilla notes.
- good projection
- balanced notes
- moderate sillage
- clean and non-inoffensive in a way that can be generic
This version of Mon Guerlain is a beautiful iteration of the original and tastefully done. Three hours later, and we were still surrounded by the soft and strong scent. It is just brilliant on the dry down, where the sandalwood is perfectly balanced and brings the jasmine to foreground. Guerlain fans and people who love Mon Guerlain, are obsessed with the dry down and claim that this is what makes this wearable. We feel that this easily become someone’s signature scents and one that can be worn all year round. One can wear Mon Guerlain Florale anywhere without worrying about it being too loud as it sits close to the skin.
