Best Byredo Perfumes
Byredo Gypsy Water
Gypsy Water from Byredo is a scent that’s got this free-spirited character inspired by the Romani lifestyle and is a combination of evocative aromas of deep crests, campfires and fresh soil underfoot. So the top notes can be described as aromatic, energizing and consist of mingling lemon and bergamot with earthy black pepper and the piquantly fragrant facets of juniper berries. Accords of bergamot, incense, and sandalwood have been added to make this a unisex scent.
Very serene, delicate fragrance, perfect for the office or an informal setting, great performance
Does not last very long, expensive
Not a whole lot to complain about here, if you’re into a minimalist, yet luxurious design then you’ll love this scent. The start of Gypsy Water is a fresh lemon, woody juniper and bergamot and minutes into though you lose these fresh, aquatic properties and during their medium stage it gets pretty piney and we really love it. About an hour later, it exits this coniferous stage and in comes the sandalwood and vanilla while maintaining that fresh, feel of the forest.
Then from here on out, it gets creamier, sweeter from the notes on the base. As far as we go, Gypsy Water is very well balanced and blended. The aquatic, woody openingdelivers a decent scent cloud but an hour later it becomes a skin scent – and that’s about it as far as projection. Longevity is pretty average too, around 6 to 7 hours tops in lighter climates like spring and autumns. We’d say that these seasons are the best time to use Gypsy Water, but it can work well in the summers too where it’s just light enough.
Byredo Super Cedar
Super Cedar is this consummate woodsy concoction, that’s very simplistic and clean. The aroma that it has resembles pencil shavings and is meant to be this gentle, comforting, woody offering completed with powerful cedar injects this depth and energy, adds warmth and is reminiscent of Scandinavian log cabins. At the opening, you’re greeted with rose that transitions slowly into this lush Virginian cedar at the heart. In the end, you have this base of while Musk and Haitian vetiver.
More of a masculine with a warm and woody scent, not a projection monster, rose opening, soft and warm cedar heart and dry down.
Too strong, lowered longevity
If you like how cedarwood smells, you’ll like this one.The opening smells exactly like cedarwood and on skin you could get a solid eight hours and sits on clothes a little longer. This is super easy to wear, our personal opinion, it makes a very good office fragrance and for day time. This is a very versati lescent and could easily become your signature one. It reminds us a lot of Light Blue for Women from Dolce &Gabbana.
This is softer and it has this lemony quality, we guess this freshness comes from the cedarwood note, but we are getting a lot of that vetiver. What we got from this was that it’s very feminine, sheer and doesn’t last very long, sitting closer to the skin – it’s nice, but we’re disappointed by the longevity.Mr. Marvelous is the stronger cedar offering from Byredo, this one is a little quieter and is a wonderfully done scent. We get a lot of vetiver, but not much rose in the dry down.
Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land
The Rose of No Man’s Land is a spicy – oriental fragrance from 2015.The unusual name has a compassionate, selfless story behind it, where soldiers would use this to describe, refer to the nurses who saved thousands of lives during WWI. Luscious top notes of pink pepper and Turkey red rose, unfold to an even more delectable Turkey red rose absolute. The heart has raspberry bloom, while amber and papyrus ground the fragrance.
Impressive longevity and balanced sillage, perfect for evening wear or to add flair to a daytime outing.
We liked this one on the skin, it wasn’t too overbearing or rosy enough – as you know that some rose fragrances can be really heavy. This is a very nice rose, toned down by the amber that gives it a sort of sweetness, and this designer-quality about it. But what we think it does is that it makes it more likable. This lasted for a good 7 hours on the skin, a little on the light side but definitely very present. It holds better on clothes.
It combines rose with the duality of the earth which is perfect for those who don’t like scents that are toorosy and this stops to from getting too sweet, overwhelming.
Sundazed was inspired by the summer bliss and to bask in the freedom of solar worship, a place where time stands still, catapulting this psychosomatic journey of free love. It starts out on these sunny notes of mandarin and Californian lemon to a bold heart of neroli and sambac jasmine. This is injected by a cascade of white musk injects this citrus scent, like cotton candy, with the endorphin rush of sugar on skin at the base.
Sweet and feminine scent, perfect for summer.
It is a citrus scent, with a little bit of sweet on the back of the citrus mixed with white floral vibes. We think that the opening it likable but the dry down is all neroli. It is kind of something that you need out get used to and we spotted, sweet, sticky aromas caused by the mandarin, citrusy, grapefruit kind of tartness. As the neroli stays in the background, you really don’t get the jasmine or musk.
It won’t last very long, you’re going to have to spray this on clothes where the projection it about one hour tops and stays for two to three hours. Longevity is better when it’s on clothes. On skin you get this white woods and sweetness that is fresh and juicy. Good for daily use, work, going to the beach.
Blanche, just as the name suggests, is a dedication to the colour white. So the scent takes on this simple structure, capturing these innocent, untaintedthoughts, and is a light, breezy blend of floral, aldehyde and musky accords for a refreshing and heartwarming aroma. The top notes comprise of white roses, pink pepper, and aldehydes, introducing the wearer to an airy, floral combination that’s sweet and feminine with an added spicy kick.
The heart notes are violet;neroli and peony further enhance the floral bouquet. The base is blonde woods, sandalwood, and musk that have been added for their soothing, neutral atmosphere for an all-together intoxicating and alluring smell.
Huge longevity and sillage, perfect for cool spring days.
Blanche is a super clean fragrance for the summer. It’s very fresh, almost like laundry detergent. But when sprayed on the skin, it has this almost peppery note and stays on the skin for a very long time. You can’t go wrong with it, its light and airy composition provide whiffs of it throughout the day. It’s floral, light and while it might seem like this isn’t working on you, people will tend to notice it.
It smells like Rain from Marc Jacobs -it’s not heavy, strong and can be worn daily. It is soapy but in a good, fancy perfume kind of way.
